Actual Bear Cubs Have Taken to Wrigley Field and Taught Themselves the Rules and Strategies of Baseball
Physical distancing has driven most of the nation and nearly all major cities like Chicago indoors. While the city has been seeing less foot traffic, there is a rumor going around that there has been quite an uptake in paw pedestrians.
Yes, 18 budding young bear cubs were spotted getting off the “L” at the corner of Addison and Sheffield yesterday afternoon. The one and a half dozen wild animals then made their way into the ballpark and began to play a full 9 inning baseball game. “The Chicago Cubs,” they said they would like to be called, clearly unaware of what a stir that might cause throughout Cook County.
The game they played was nothing sort of spectacular. It seems just a week after Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a shelter in place for the state of Illinois, a group of young bears were able to learn the rules and study the intricacies of the game of baseball. Not only that, but the group was also able to coordinate transportation and the gathering of nearly 20 bags worth of equipment… the wonders mother nature can produce when humans step aside for just a few days.
They plan on recruiting a few of their friends and making their way downtown to Soldier Field.
