WEIRD: A Houston Astros Player Has Yet to be Hit by a Pitch This Season
I’d like to put twenty down on Altuve getting hit in the left glute by a hanging curve in the first and fourth inning but only if a global pandemic doesn’t delay opening day!
So you’ve heard the of the Houston Astros cheating scandal. You’ve heard the mudslinging, the hate tweets, and the comparisons to the likes of notorious Chicago Black Sox. Yes, for all intents and purposes the internet and most of baseball had ‘canceled’ the Houston Astros leading into the 2020 season. A prop bet was even set in Vegas that allowed you to wager on the over/under on how many times an Astros player would be hit by a pitch.
At this point, I wish I had taken the under…
The over-under on Astros batters getting hit by pitches in 2020 season was set at 83.5. This line was set on February 18th, well before it would be announced that the MLB’s season would be put on standby until the Center for Disease Control (CDC) deemed large gatherings safe with cases of the novel coronavirus on the rise. All-star second baseman and major focal point in much of the media’s coverage of the cheating scandal, José Altuve was quoted saying the following; “I like this I’ve been hit by no baseballs. People also seem to have forgotten that my organization knowingly cheated the game so many have grown to love. People seem to have forgotten that we suck the big suck.”
It should, of course, be noted this is a fake quote and this is a joke of a website, just like how the Houston Astors are a joke of a franchise.
